A Pentecost Reflection

In our neck of the woods, the Collect for Pentecost encourages us to be 'sent out as witnesses to the wonder of [God's] love' To be a witness is to have a firsthand experience of something. In the photos below, Anglican Students from the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT, Bellville), articulated a memory of this firsthand experience of God's love in their lives. They did it through the language - the medium of clay

On Pentecost Sunday, Anglican students at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, witnessed to the Story of God's Love in their lives through the universal medium of clay

Prayer Stands

Anglican Students, at the University of the Western Cape and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology made Prayer Stands recently. Each bead in the strand represents a simple prayer. Seven beads are used as a symbol of our striving towards wholeness

The Prayer and Spirituality Team was established after the 2007 Diocesan Synod. At that Synod it was agreed that the Parishes are the locus of training and of living out our spirituality and that teams be established in each Archdeaconry to support the parishes.

The Diocesan Team undertook to support all and to finding and developing material for use in the Diocese to encourage the deepening the Prayer and Spirituality life of the people of the Diocese. It is the desire of the team to help the Diocese to become one that supports all people of the Diocese wherever they may be on their journey of faith and to encourage them to grow in their faith.

Activities of the team include: Companions in Christ - Introduction and Training. Quiet Days: These are arranged on the 3rd Thursday of the month and on Some Saturdays and Sundays in the year. These are available to all clergy and laity in the Diocese.

At Churchhaven, the Quiet Day runs from 10:00 to about 15:00.

Prayers for Parishes: These are published each quarter with prayers for all the Parishes and Chapelries and any other organisations that send prayers in to the coordinator.
