“ BLESSED ARE THOSE WHOSE STRENGTH IS IN YOU: WHO HAVE SET THEIR HEARTS ON PILGRIMAGE.”

Nodeloos vir my om te se want u weet dit alreeds: vandag vier die Christendom Aswoensdag- in English Ash Wednesday. AshWednesday signifies for us the beginning of Lent, which will end with the Joy of Easter on Sunday [ 20th April 2014]

I wondered for many years,
what the sign of Jonah
could be?

For you see, my childhood eyes
had, as yet, not fallen upon
the words attributed to Jesus
in today’s gospel (Luke 11: 29 – 32).

So I wondered, what
the sign of Jonah could be?

I was taken in – hook, line
and sinker you could say,
by the drama, the story, the whale,
the belly – perhaps a fire
in the dark of the belly - and
of course, taken in by
Jonah… I have a vivid
imagination!

Lord, we the people of the Diocese of Saldanha Bay are not afraid to dream and turn our dreams into actions, as Bishop Raphael and his team walk the 800kms of the Diocese in which we live, we think of our own journey this Lent.  Lord God help us to remember the trials and temptations of your son Jesus Christ in his journey through the wilderness, and how he triumphed over all.
In our prayers we think of the difficult journeys in life encountered by so many people in the world.
